Who we are
In the Doñana Natural Park, between Seville and Huelva, where nature still sets the rhythm of life, lies Kukutana, a private countryside retreat in Spain: an Andalusian cortijo built in 1920 and lived in by the Llorente family since 1988.
Here, the light changes with the season, the marshlands breathe with the water, and silence stays close. The house remains calm and steady, a place that holds memories and opens space for those who arrive.
Our philosophy
My home is your home
At Kukutana, we believe in a way of travelling that doesn’t need hurry
— a form of slow travel rooted in privacy, culture and nature.
We do not seek to impress; we seek to welcome, as one does when opening their own home.
We invite our guests to discover Doñana as we live it ourselves:
slowly, with respect, attentive to detail and to the natural rhythm of this authentic Andalusian home.
A cortijo with soul
Kukutana preserves the essence of the old Andalusian cortijos:
its wide patios, its clean, simple architecture, the changing light that moves through the rooms throughout the day.Its walls have witnessed generations, seasons, celebrations and quiet moments.
What brings the house to life is the energy of those who inhabit it and those who visit:
families and friends seeking a private retreat where they can disconnect, share time, and experience something simpler and more genuine.
Here, everything follows its own rhythm:
the meals prepared with calm,
the long conversations around the table,
the walks at sunset,
the doors left open so the breeze can move through the house.
A Place Where Time Slows
When you arrive, something softens.
The house receives you without urgency, with the quiet confidence of places that have stood for many years.
Light enters through the patio like a gentle invitation,
and the wide silence of Doñana begins to settle beside you.
Here, the day finds another tempo — the tempo of the Andalusian countryside, unhurried and honest.
The sounds of the land mark the hours almost without notice:
a horse moving across the marsh,
the wind through the pines,
footsteps echoing lightly along the corridors.
There is no need to fill the time.
Sometimes it is enough to sit in the shade,
feel the air change temperature,
or watch the light shift across the house.
At Kukutana, time is not occupied:
it opens.
And those who arrive find their own rhythm within it.
A place to pause and breathe,
to be simply present
If You Ever Decide to Come
Kukutana – which in Swahili means “encounter” – was born from this desire: that this be a place where one encounters the environment, oneself and those with whom one shares the journey. Here, the rhythm is set by nature and the house that accompanies you unhurriedly.
Here, nature sets the pace, and the house accompanies without hurry.
If you ever decide to come, it will be a pleasure to share this place with you.
We look forward to welcoming you with open arms!
