A group of influential friends travel from far and wide to share time together at Kukutana
Penelope Chilvers is a British shoe designer known for creating high-quality footwear with a contemporary twist.
Her boots and shoes are loved and worn by celebrities and high profile people, including Catherine, Princess of Wales.
Spanish Connection
Penelope lived in Barcelona for many years and has close ties with Spain, including the fact that her factories and workshops are based outside Seville.
The motivation for her stay at Kukutana was a collaboration with British designer, writer, businesswoman, and former fashion model, India Hicks.
These two creative women decided to invite a handful of friends to spend some days staying at Kukutana, eating, drinking and enjoying their time as they explored Doñana National Park and El Rocio.
“There are no words to thank you enough for our stay here at Kukutana. It was been so magical, so beautiful and so unique. I will never forget it, and will come back with my husband next time. What a wonderful family project. With all my best wishes, amor y abrazos.” – Penelope Chilvers, UK

Kukutana: a meeting place
“Thank you for this unbelievable visit” wrote India Hicks in our guest book. “What a sensational home you have shared with us. From the Bahamas to Spain!”
India and her husband David came to Southern Spain from their home in the Bahamas, whereas the rest of the group travelled from the UK.
“Thank you all for your kindness and generosity here at Kukutana, the best of Andalucia.” – David Flint Wood, Bahamas
Riding back in time
Other members of the group included adventurer, writer and broadcaster Alexandra Tolstoy and Fee Drummond of Cadland Estate.
“Kukutana – magical memories and a wonderful adventure. Thank you so much for sharing it all with us and for your charming Sevillian style. Until we can be back…” wrote Fee Drummond.

Energía mágica
“Was that a dream? I feel like I have travelled back in time to a pre-Covid world of freshly squeezed orange juice, horses and bird song. There’s a magical energy here, the history of the family, the farm, the sun, the rain, the flowers, the food, the lemon meringue tart! Thank you so much for everything.” – Tara, photographer, who took the images seen here.
The group set out one riding from our farmhouse through the ancient woodland alongside our property. Most went on horseback, and some followed in horse-pulled carriage. They stopped for a picnic lunch before riding into El Rocio for the afternoon.

Secret side of Southern Spain
“Wow, what a magical few days! Thank you so much for everything. Every detail was perfect. The house and the surrounding area are beautiful. The picnic and outing on horseback was incredible – it was a day I will never forget. I hope to return soon.” – Gemma Sort Chilvers, UK
